Clara Gonzalez is an original. Her first SLR camera came from a pawnshop, but in just two decades she transformed herself from an Industrial designer to one of the world’s best-loved food-bloggers whose images now appear in magazines,books, and on television from Alaska to Zanzibar. She is known to her fans as “Aunt Clara” and conveys like no one else the light, colour and fabulous flavours of her native Dominican Republic.

Her home is Punta Cana, and her images portray Dominican cuisine at its finest. Relaxed and inviting, these are photographs that draw you in, whether the subject is a close-up of an ingredient like okra or star anise, or a dish unique to the country like the melt-in-the-mouth pineapple cake -- everybody’s favourite
